[gedit-list] gedit on mac does not show directories outside my HOME

I'm running gedit 3.2.6 on Mac OSX 10.6.

When I open a file, or save a new one, I can only access my home
directory and what is below. In particular, I don't see, for example,
other volumes (such as USB stick or external disks).
