  Depends, if there is already an open instance , gedit will return to command line. Otherwise, it will block until all tabs are closed.

  Alternatively, use "&" to run in background.

when i write in the terminal the command :
gedit file.c

the terminal give me that the command edit doesn't exsist but when i write :
open file.c
 the file opens how can i correct this error ??
