Can you please create a File Extension for the Programs, so the text files

".ged" or ".gedit"; it's a pain having to always open the files manually. So,
please try to work on this.
You can probably configure your file manager to always open files with a
certain extension or mime type with gedit.
On UNIX systems, file extensions are not mandatory, so if you create a
new file, there is no extension by default AFAIK.
