Re: [gedit-list] Fwd: Fwd: Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon -- gedit 2 and synctex plugins

I open a document with

$ gedit document.tex

(gedit:23574): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_list_store_set_column_types: assertion `priv->columns_dirty == 0' failed
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 9: reading configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated.

to compile I use the following "external tool"

#!/bin/bash
# [Gedit Tool]
# Name=Compila TeX
# Shortcut=<Primary>5
# Languages=tex
# Applicability=all
# Output=output-panel
# Input=nothing
# Save-files=document

TEXFILE=$GEDIT_CURRENT_DOCUMENT_NAME
PDFFILE=${TEXFILE/%.*/.pdf}
LOGFILE=${TEXFILE/%.*/.log}
if xetex -synctex=1 -halt-on-error $TEXFILE; then
    evince $PDFFILE
    else gedit $LOGFILE
fi

Well, after compilation and show in evince nothing works. Not menu tools > forward search that is disabled, not ctrl-click in evince, not ctrl-click in gedit.

Sergio,

Does backward search works for you? Normally, using Gedit + gedit-synctex + Evince should work out of the box, without any configuration... so most probably you are encountering a bug. Please, start gedit using command line and see if you get any errors that you can copy to us. Also, see if Ctrl+click works for you (either in Evince or in gedit, in Evince it does a backward search, in Gedit it supposed to do a forward search)...

Please note that the Menu option of the synctex plugin was broken sometime ago, and it  was probably fixed after we released gedit-plugins 3.6.0

Greetings

José

Well, I've installed gedit on linux mint 14 cinnamon.

$ gedit --version
gedit - Version 3.6.1

and I've installed gedit-plugins: synctex plugin ver. 3.6.0

Every plugin work preperly, except the synctex plugin. I've compiled a TeX document with

xetex -synctex=1 -halt-on-error document.tex

The pdf document is well typesetted, the document.synctex.gz file is correctly produced, evince 3.6.0 with poppler 0.20.4 show it wonderfully, but the menu option tools>forward searc is disabled and it doesnt work.

Were can be the problem?

Hey, gedit-plugins should have a package for cinnamon I guess, if not you should file a bug to Cinnamon.

Regards.

The synctex plugin is only available from gedit-plugins >= 2.32. Note that this version is now more than 2 years old.
