Good feature request. I've subscribed to the bug and commented.
Is there a command line (or perhaps Dbus) mechanism that can be used get
"session saver" to load a particular session?

I don't recall if I've evaluated that plugin. (In addition to "session
saver," I also have "reopen tabs" installed, but I think that's different.)
Like most Gedit plugins, this one suffers from a dearth of
documentation. Implied in the brief description is that it doesn't have
a UI for manually loading/saving/naming sessions. Does anyone know if it
triggers the auto save periodically, or only on exit?
