[gedit-list] A question

Hi,

I want to install gedit on my computer so I wanted to ask 

1- Does it need any plug-ins to support java language syntax, or does that come with it by default.

2- Is there a specific way to install gedit on unix based computers or is it normal like 

just double click the file and it will install
