In fact, I'm running Gedit from terminal, and I receive the same messagem mentioned on the thread linked by me:

** (gedit:15686): WARNING **: Cannot load Python plugin 'HTML Tidy' since file 'html-tidy' cannot be read. ** (gedit:15686): WARNING **: Error activating plugin 'HTML Tidy'

I've tried fix that removing the import, but as I don't know much of Python, I didn't have success.

What I can advise to do is run gedit from a terminal and activate the plugin so that you can see the error massages printed by the plugin itself.
