[Sorry for my english]
Hi, first of all, thanks for your job.
I recently use gedit + plugins to code in rails, and i have a pair of
suggestions to improve gedit. (i would like to make
gedit more close to textmate).
-Remember the last opened tabs: for me, the most important feature that i need,
it's really boring
open every time the same tabs... i try with the extension "saved sessions", but
it's not the solution
because i have to choose manuality the session
-Code folding: i thinks that is very useful to work with a very large files
(maybe the best option to add this feature is make an extension)
-Check if there's an update of some plugin (like firefox), too install or delete
plugins in the plugins window
-Short the plugins in the preferences windows, like pidgin:
http://www.softpedia.com/screenshots/Portable-Pidgin_7.png
You can sort the plugins by "enabled" or by the "name"
-E is a textmate windows clon http://www.e-texteditor.com/index.html, there is
an screencast that we can learn some cool features.
Some thinks that i like (i find too in textmate)
-In the "status bar" it can change the number the tab spaces really fast (not
find in the menus)
-In the "status bar" it can change the ver fast the extension of th file file
(look this screenshot: http://garbageburrito.com/album/huge/4049
Maybe you thing that all of this feateure is just a clone of textamate, but in
the rails linux world, gedit is
the only serious contender to textmate.
Thanks to read me, and i hope that you understand that this mail is only to
improve gedit, not todo a troll.
Gerard
