If you have a lot of mail on these servers, it could take several hours 
for your client to sync; this was my experience with two similarly large 
e-mail accounts and Geary (but also with other clients). After the 
initial sync, which took a few hours, I have not experienced any 
performance issues.

Just throwing that out as a possibility...
