I can't understand how people can read not threaded emails :)
Reading not threaded emails is like reading 20 books at once, jumping 
from one to another to another and back to the first, etc.

What exactly annoys you about the threaded view? (consider that lots of 
people use and love Gmail)

It's not possible at the moment.
This is a feature request to introduce a threaded view:

Probably not what you are looking for though.
