Geary relies on libsecret for storing passwords. What libsecret relies on is, as I understand it, configurable, so gnome-keyring is not a strict requirement.
Unchecking "Store password" is not enough to run Geary without libsecret. It's a hard requirement.

Hi,
Is there a way to use geary without knome-keyring?
It is not installed on my system and after the firs time geary canno
start and I have this message:
Remote error from secret service:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name
org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files
As far as I understand libsecret is not finding the password because is
missing the frontend.
Even if "Store password" is unticked the problem persists.
Cheers
Mike
