Last night I was able to get Ubuntu 11.04 running with 2 Nvidia 8400GS 
cards, I had to install updates and re-install the nvidia driver for 
that to work though.

I agree that I don't want any steps backward.  It surprises me that 
during my stable period (since Ubuntu 8.04) multiseat as been so poorly 
supported.  I'm hopeful that moving multiseat up out of the shadows will 
help popularity.
