Right, the keyboard layout chooser had bunch of issues that spanned
all the way back to when it was initially added. It was very
problematic for a large number of users. That commit isn't actually
the commit where it was dropped. That's just culling unused code. it
was dropped from the UI earlier.

It will get added during gnome 3 but probably not before 3.0. The
idea is to do the same thing that happens in the session, which
(probably also won't be available for 3.0) is discussed here:
