Since you're using SLED, you should file a bug in the Novell bugzilla:

https://bugzilla.novell.com/enter_bug.cgi?format=guided

The bug should contain more details, like the expected and actual GDM
behaviors.

The GDM in SLE* is heavily patched to support AD better, and the
maintainers of the vanilla ("upstream") version can't - and shouldn't
have to - deal with issues related to this.
