We should make use of SVGs all over the place. That will solve a lot of
problems regarding localization and font-sizes. Andy Fitzsimon once did
a good talk at LGM2 about the benefits of SVG-usage for theme-assets in
terms of localization-support. Unfortunately I could not find any slides
from his talk online.
For the GL-based greeter I will make librsvg, cairo and pango be good
friends with GL.

GnomeCanvas is something that I will not use in the GL-based greeter. I
had my share of unpleasant experiences with GL ontop/inside GnomeCanvas
when I did the first greeter in the older gdm. That was one to many :)
