It's not possible that you have an old/stale gconfd-1/2 lying around
that is in need of sudden death ? possibly this is a gconfd-1 problem
with interoperating with gconfd-2.
Might also be interesting to do an fuser on that file path, to see who
has it open, and a gdb / backtrace on any stalled / lurking gconfd-2s.
