Is there a way we can update these to cater for the different distributions
GARNOME does build on, after all -- recent GARNOME's still build on Ubuntu 6.06
(libmagick9) as well as 8.04, which now has libmagick10.

Just thinking that having deps listed like:

libmagick6 | libmagick9 | libmagick10 

... might be a tad confusing to new users.

libmagick6 isn't listed in any 'supported' repository though, so users who try
the 'smallest number first' theory will still get an error like the one above.
