er, yes -- yes it is.

*light goes on / apologises for having too little sleep*

Possibly it's just a case of the #bootstrap/dbus and bootstrap/hal
dependencies not having been uncommented manually before 'make install'
got to gnome-volume-manager.

Obviously this needs a little more explanation in the manual/FAQ.
