French keyboard error

Great, this gnome 2.8 ..

Afeter successfully compiled garnome 2.8, and run it, it tells me that it
can't load the french key map

xprop -root | grep XKB :

_XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc104", "fr", "", ""

gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb:
layouts = [fr-latin9   Sundeadkeys]
 model = pc104
 overrideSettings = false
 options = [grp grp:alts_toggle]
 update_handlers = []

If anyone had the problem ...
