Try to configure the package on a machine without Linux (thus without GNU sed as
default).  The following happens:

checking for compiler -fshort-wchar option... yes
checking for mozilla version... 1.7.3 (guessed: 1.7.3)
configure: error: Invalid mozilla major version component: 173

When changing from Solaris 'sed' to GNU 'sed', the configure script succeeds.

checking for mozilla version... 1.7.3 (guessed: 1.7.3)
checking for /opt/gnome-2.8/include/mozilla-1.7.3/pipnss/nsIX509Cert.h... yes
checking for /opt/gnome-2.8/include/mozilla-1.7.3/nsIPassword.h... yes
checking locale.h usability... yes

So, make sure that 'sed' in this line:

dnl Split up the version string ( 1.7rc1 -> 1 7 rc 1 )
version=$(echo $MOZILLA_VERSION | /opt/sfw/bin/gsed -e
's/\(@<:@0-9@:>@\+\|@<:@a-z@:>@\+\)/\1 /g' -e 's/\.//g')

 from configure.in is GNU 'sed'!
