Have you tried following the instructions on the Garnome Home Page? :-)

In your case you would do:

cd /root/Desktop/garnome_rc_2.6.1/desktop
make paranoid-install

You have to build desktop/ first. You cannot run 'make paranoid-install'
in the top level dir.
