Re: Clear all old Gnome data?

.gconf* and .gnome* should be enough for beginning. But you should stop gconfd
before, or the .gconf directory could be created again when gcond shuts down.

I do this:
1) either kill gconfd or logon as the user from console (ssh, telnet), i.e.
with no gnome running and run "gconftool-2 --shutdown". Gconfd is now off.
2) remove .gconf* and .gnome*

This should do the trick. Most of the settings are away.

But remember, some programs use other files/directories as other people here
pointed out. E.g. Evolution uses ~/evolution directory, Metacity uses
~/.metacity etc.
