I knew that -- but the XML::Parser issue smells like a bug that came up
a few months ago where broken intltool installations in some
distributions were causing errors for people building GARNOME.

It's why GARNOME 2.4.x still includes fixes for intltoolize for
libgnomeprint for example, compiling with a recent system installed 
intltool will kill it, but bootstrap/intltool + the patch works OK.
