starting with garnome and GNOME 2

Ciao a tutti,
I use Debian 3.0r1 and I want to install, before on my machine for
testing, and after on all PC in my LAN, GNOME 2.

Even before compiling I want to know two things:
1. What tarball I need to dowloads, so I can put them in the local web
   server (es. http://localweb/gnome/) and ...
2. ... how tell to garnome to use the local mirror and not gnome.org to
   dowloads file?
