xterm, konsole, pterm, and gnome-terminal all set $TERM to "xterm" -- and
the settitle escape sequence works in all of them.

Eterm and rxvt use "Eterm" and "rxvt", respectively, and it works there
too.

The Linux console (in v2.4.20) beeps but it has $TERM set to "linux".
