I did manage to fix it for myself, just that I sent the e-mail out while
compiling on a fresh system (had to repartition to fit some Windows
development tools for a uni project, arrgh) so I had a hazy memory of
where the problem lies.

Hope it's fixed for 0.19.0 final anyway :) Anyone has tried printing
when gimp-print is compiled with --with-cups=no ? Does it just use the
system gimp-print libs?

AFAIK one has to turn off another switch as well, not just CUPS..
