I launched gnome2 right after bootup so this shouldn't be the problem.

It's a bit annoying tho have all the old gnomecc capplets in the
"Desktop Preferences -> Advanced" menu.

BTW: are there any plans to include galeon? The stable version just
doesn't want to start up when I'm in a gnome2 session.
