Problem compiling garnome-0.19.3 on RH73

Has anyone had any success with this?  My first two attempts died on
attempting to compile the spell plugin:
                                                                                
garnome-0.19.3/gnome/gedit/work/gedit-2.1.3/plugins/spell
                                                                                
It complained of the inability to find /usr/lib/libpspell-impl.la
                                                                                
However, on the two RH8 boxes I successfully compiled gnome-desktop on,
there is no /usr/lib/libpspell-impl.la either.  Do I need to update
libtool?
