Re: [TetrisBattle] Extending Tetris to multiplayer game for gnome

Now we know a bit more what you have in mind, so it will be easier to
help you. ;·)

For now, I was fiddling around ideas for extending Tetris for Wiktionary.
(Figuring out how this can be done for single player)
My idea for quadrapassel is ->
1. Shuffle Letters
2. Build words based on shuffled letters.
3. Show the highest ranked meaning of the built word from
Wiktionary(probably in pop up)

So, that’s a quite different game than a simple Tetris. :·) From a
GNOME perspective, I think it would be more interesting to keep
Quadrapassel for Tetris/Tetris-like game(s); because that’s an
emblematic game, as it is. But as I said, it’s easy to just fork the
application, keep the code that interest you, and start a new game;
the code is under a free license.

One of the direct difficulty I see is the internationalization of the
game. What you have in mind probably will work with some languages,
but might be hard in some others. As long as that’s working for you,
that’s great, but it needs to be thought hard if you want to propose
it for translation anywhere.

This way tetris can be extended for word building for single player right
now.

It would be great if we can scale up to different applications and for
different users eventually.

Creating a good game needs a long testing… so, just code a prototype! :·)

I’d even go with simple techs (html+js, console game, the one you code
the faster) to be sure of what you want to achieve.

If I can go ahead with this, it would be really nice and I would like to
know more about how I can achieve this .

Well, a thing you’ll have to do is to open a repository with the code,
and suggest to people to test it. Following testers opinion might help
to improve a game fastly.

Arnaud
