Re: How to get the orbs of SameGnome back?

Yes, it uses pluggable themes. Someone could certainly remake the orbs if they were so inclined.

Does Swell Foop use customizable /replaceable SVGs for its images? (all GNOME games really should)
If so, couldn't someone remake the orbs "good looking" and in scalable SVG?

I and our children were recently disappointed to find that the orbs of SameGnome have been lost. Why on earth did you guys change the good-looking orbs of SameGnome to the plain squares of Swell Foop, without any option to use "legacy graphics" or anything?

They were neither good looking nor scalable. The new engine has animation and the old one did not. By any objective measure, the new version is an improvement.

I found some old news message (of ver 2.29.1) saying that SameGnome was ported to Seed/Clutter
and the name was changed to Swell Foop. Did that mandate the change in graphics?

Yes.

Now, with the complaints/rebukes given, what are my options for getting the orbed version back? Should I try to compile the last version before 2.29.1?   The last tag before 2.29.1 in GIT repository seemed to be 2.28.1.

You could do that if you wanted to but I wouldn't recommend it.
