try this:
sqlite3 ~/.gnome2/f-spot/photos.db "SELECT id from photos WHERE md5_sum
IS NULL"
sqlite3 ~/.gnome2/f-spot/photos.db "SELECT id from photos WHERE md5_sum
='' "

they should both return the same result, which if is null it means you
have no pictures with missing hash.
