Transferring Photos

Hi Guys
Many thanks for all your responses and suggestions. I have tried most of them, the exception being the one from James as I am not sufficiently competent to try his method. The only one that works is the symbolic link suggested by Mathieu.
The photos seem to take a little longer to load but maybe that is me! Now I have them and the tags in order should I run the syncmetadata tool as outlined by Lorenzo, but on the new system? Would that remove the need for the symbolic link? If so can someone tell me how to run this - I don't have a tools option within F-spot.
