For now the work is done on the same computer. But just for my interest:
It sounds like working simultaneously in F-Spot is not supported.

Does anyone of you know, if there is such a photomanagement system
supporting this?

I think, I will try that out. Do you mean by softlink a symbolic link?

What are the other files for and could there happen any collisions by
sharing those?
