(Sorry for the lack of context.  I just subscribed to the list and so
don't have the original message to use as the basis of a reply.)

I, too, am on gusty and get the "A null value was found where an
object instance was required" message when I try to import into
f-spot.  However, unlike Antti's experence, it only shows up for me on
a few photos in my connection.  Everyone of those photos is one where
I'd used a tool that stripped off the original EXIF information and
had had to replace it with EXIFtool.  The images were taken with Kodak
DC210 and DC4800 cameras, but other images from those cameras import
without the problem.

If anyone can point me at a recipe for getting a stack trace with the
default gusty packages, I'll try to produce one.  Stephane guessed
that upgrading the db to sqlite3 might fix it, but I don't think that
it will:

Perhaps this will help.  I started f-spot from a terminal window and I
get this sort of output for each photo that gives the null value
message:
