Larry, here is a screenshot of KSystemGuard that shows me opening
F-Spot, and browsing the pictures:

That was with KDE and these open programs: Firefox, F-Spot,
KSystemGuard. The machine has a 1.3 gHz Duron processor and 1GB RAM.
