Maybe there needs to be a hashed directory
structure to cope with lots of thumbnails- this is one factor as to why
I can't use f-spot.  If it doesn't work with HEAPS of photos it is
a bad thing, and once someone with thousands of photos has tried it and
failed, they are unlikely to try it again.
