f-spot is great, and one of the killer features for me was the sqlite
backend.

I've already devleoped scripts that will mass-import from iphoto, and a
web cgi script that lets me browse my photos online through my web server.

I've used perl, since it's language I know best (and work with all day @
my job...) .  I only took a quick look at it, but db4o seems to tie the
backend to .net and/or java archetectures, making it difficult for non
c# solutions to interact w/ the f-spot database.

Just another 2 cents ...
