creating Exif Tags

Hello,

I was really excited when I saw the ability to edit exiftags.  How hard
would it be to create an exiftag on a picture that doesn't have any yet?
I have a bunch of pictures I scanned and they don't have exiftags and I
would like to put semi accurate data in there.
