Agreed, I think we definitely should go back to the expander, too. The
expander is a great way to manage your attached files while still having
the option to visually "hide" all attachments leaving nothing but a
small informative status note.

IMHO there is only one real issue with the 2.2.x way to deal with
attachments: Not display added attachments (expanding the attachment
pane every time an attachments gets added). Seems to me, like this is
the real issue with all this re-working anyway...

If the attachment pane pops up every time an attachment gets added, the
user can not add an attachment by mistake. [1]


Anyway, having the option to still adjust the height of the attachment
pane would maybe will be a good idea. But please don't get rid of the
extremely handy and nice expander!


On a related note, I wonder if the attachments could be displayed in a
list view, like Nautilus and the file chooser offers...

[1] Like adding a full set of vCards -- just cause the To/Ccc/Bcc
    buttons don't listen to drag-n-drop of Contacts. This just happened
    2 weeks ago to me... :/
