Hmm, i still don't like this!
In short, I don't like anything which is going to steal focus. Particularly from async events, which almost all of these are. We will end up getting other bug reports about random focus stealing with anything like this approach.
I much prefer a 'don't give focus' approach. e.g. only focus the tree if you click on the same node twice, otherwise stay focussed where you were. As i mentioned before about some application i've seen doing this (i just can't find the application which behaves that way which i've seen before - since i don't use gnome or gtk+ applications much).

Ok, what about the attached patch? I would just like to have a way of
going back to the folders list with the keyboard now. I'll take a look
at how to implement that, too.
