The new file selector changes the file list contents and send the focus
to it when you double-click a folder on the left pane.

Yes. But if you want to go from the folders list to the messages list
using tabs you'll have to press it 8 times before you get there. There's
not accelerator key that I know about and I don't see where it could go
in the UI.
