Because _(x) is a macro and ngettext (x) is a function. Lets prepend
spaces to function names, for the sake of readability.
Well you don't know that it isn't a macro.
And whether that is more readable or not is detabatable. For me it isn't, and neither way it for K&R when they designed C.
