The string in italics is not terribly useful, since it doesn't tell me
what date the 1:10pm refers to (is it the 16th or the 17th?).
So unless you write the full date in the local timezone as well, the
patch doesn't really add much; but if you put the full date then the
display becomes quite cluttered.
I am not sure what the right solution is, although I think this was
discussed on the list before...
