But you _can_ tell, even without the patch.

If it says '21 Jul 2003 00:30 +0100' and you're on EDT (GMT-4), then it
was sent at 20:30 EDT on the 20th -- I think.

Work it out for yourself on a few mails -- note how long it takes you to
convert the time in the Date: header to GMT and then to your own
localtime, and the accuracy with which you manage it. Note also how long
it takes you to observe in each case that you crossed midnight, and add
or subtract a single day from the date.

It is my experience that doing the time conversion in my head takes far
longer and I'm far less likely to get it right, while it's fairly
obvious when I need to add or subtract a single day because the time
conversion crossed midnight. Do you not find the same?

Therefore, there's a fairly clear benefit to me from automatically
converting the time, and since it's a fairly innocuous addition to the
Date: header display, it looks like a useful thing to do.

There seems to be little added benefit for the extra clutter of adding
the date too -- because I can work that out for myself without trouble
and it's not saving me any time.

If you like, I can change the patch to add the date too, in the
relatively rare case that it's different from the original date.

I don't think it's really worth it though - it's only the _time_ which
is actually useful to me, personally.
