Works for me, though TBH I tend not to move mails around as I do all my
sorting via filters. I would definitely not like the number to show how
many items there are as some of my mailboxes are huge (one of them is
the entire archive of this list going back many years). I guess it
could be an option, as people's workflows are not all the same.

If you feel strongly about it, file an RFE in the usual place.
