Right clicking on the image does not give you a Save option?

Depends on the type of forward. Forward inline will certainly trash
HTML e-mails; better to forward as attached.
I did some searching and it looks like several years ago this was
listed as a bug in Evolution that was fixed in 3.16.3? I did notice
that Ubuntu 18.04 seems to be using a two year old version of
Evolution, but still a version beyond 3.16.3.
Ah, dear old Ubuntu; it has become a Crazy Uncle of LINUX
distributions. I can say that on openSUSE LEAP Evolution 3.22.6 all
the above works.
