sure, the distribution maintainers can include the change (in the
evolution-data-server), there might be no to minimal changes being
required for the upstream fix backport:

Just ask your distro maintainer to use the above patches (in this
order) and it'll be it.
I'll do that. My distro is Fedora but I assume you're not the
maintainer yourself (given that your address is @redhat.com).
