I'm not having any luck with GOA (showing as 'contacts'). When I start it up it offers two choices - "online account" or "local address book "
Clicking on "online account " does nothing whatsoever...

For this particular issue no, it doesn't help. Google Contacts doesn't
work even in the most recent version of Evo and, as far as I remember,
there is no intention to implement the new authentication system in
Evolution: there is a perfectly acceptable, working way of doing it
using GOA.
