Can you update?  At least for CalDAV calendars the current-ish versions
behave in a dramatically more coherent manner.

Doesn't even show when I try to print.

If you do not see it on the screen, I do not know why you would expect
to see it in print preview.

Perhaps you can perform the operation with CALDAV/WEBDAV debugging
enabled?  And see what actually happens.

 - exit evolution
 - killall -15 /usr/lib/evolution-data-server/evolution-calendar-factory
 - in a gnome-terminal:
   CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 \
   CALDAV_DEBUG=1 \
   WEBDAV_DEBUG=1 \
   /usr/lib/evolution-data-server/evolution-calendar-factory
 - start evolution via dash or whatever
 - do you calendar thing
 - cut-n-paste the output you see in the terminal to a text editor like
gedit
