regarding to googling it's not related to the fact that I share the mail
folder for Evolution and it seems to be an issue, experienced by others,
when running e.g. gedit on GNOME 3.

I'm using Xfce4.

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ pacman -Q gnome-shell
error: package 'gnome-shell' was not found

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ grep dconf ~/.xsession-errors
(evolution-alarm-notify:744): dconf-CRITICAL **: unable to create file
'/run/user/1000/dconf/user': Permission denied.  dconf will not work
properly.

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ ls -hAl /run/user/1000/dconf/user
-rw------- 1 rocketmouse rocketmouse 2 Jul 20 14:58 /run/user/1000/dconf/user

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ id
uid=1000(rocketmouse) gid=1000(rocketmouse)
groups=1000(rocketmouse),10(wheel),50(games),91(video),92(audio),
93(optical),95(storage),98(power),100(users),108(vboxusers)



I'm sharing .local/share/evolution/mail by different accounts since
years, so this shouldn't be related to this issue.

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ ls -ld .local/share/evolution/mail
drwxr-xr-x 8 rocketmouse rocketmouse 4096 May 28 21:10 .local/share/evolution/mail

E.g.

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ ls -l /mnt/q/home/spinymouse/.local/share/evolution/mail
lrwxrwxrwx 1 rocketmouse rocketmouse 59 Feb 27 21:16
/mnt/q/home/spinymouse/.local/share/evolution/mail
-> /mnt/archlinux/home/rocketmouse/.local/share/evolution/mail



FWIW to share something for VBox I added links, not used by Evolution, e.g.

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ ls -ld /home/*mouse* /mnt/q/home/*mouse*

I suspect that something is broken for Evolution and/or dconf, more
likely for dconf.

[rocketmouse archlinux ~]$ pacman -Q evolution dconf
evolution 3.8.3-1
dconf 0.16.1-1
